Amber is neither a gemstone nor a crystal, but is fossilized sap from prehistoric trees that has aged over the course of millions of years. Amber is usually thought of as yellow golden in hue, but amber also can be found in shades of milky white, red-orange, green, black and even (very rarely) violet. As such it frequently contains insects, and is therefore seen as a giver of life energy. Amber also represents the Goddess or Great Mother, and is sometimes worn by Witches in a necklace of alternating amber and jet (representing the God) beads. It is used to enhance magickal ability and to ward off negativity, whether it is within your own spells or of those directed against you.

Be wary of being fobbed off with imitation amber. Fake amber it is made of glass or plastic, true amber is warm to the touch, smells slightly of pear drops, and produces a sweet smelling smoke if you push a hot pin into it (plastic smells pungent and acidic).

In the Far East, amber is the symbol of courage; Asian cultures regard amber as the 'soul of the tiger'; Egyptians placed a piece of amber in the casket of a loved one to ensure the body would forever remain whole. In many traditions of Paganism and Wicca, days of the week are very important aspects of effective spellcasting. For example, spells to do with abundance or prosperity could be done on Thursday, because it is associated with riches and desire. When casting a spell concerning business or communication, one might prefer to work on a Wednesday due to its associations.

White Magick Spell for Professional Success

This Wiccan spell for professional success can be used for a few purposes:

Ingredients of white magic success spell

• A photo of yourself
• 4 green candles and one white candle
• A  few drops of essential oil for your astrological sign
• Amber incense
• 10 bay leaves
• 2 green fluorite stones
• Money – a note of any denomination will do
• An offering bowl

Dress in white when you perform this spell.  Purify yourself by washing your hands and then applying a few drops of your essential oil (mix a drop with a carrier oil such as almond oil, as many essential oils can irritate the skin if put on the skin directly)

To prepare your circle, place the green candles at each cardinal point, and the white candle in front of you. Place the incense to the left of the white candle.  Put the bay leaves, fluorite stones and the bank note into a bowl, and put this on the right of the white candle.

Put your photo in front of the candle.

Now, ground and centre yourself, then draw your circle, lighting each green candle in turn, and finally the white candle in front of you.  Use the white candle to light the incense.

Take the white candle, and drop a few drops of wax on your picture.  Take the offering bowl in both hands and concentrate on your photo.

Recite this incantation for personal success three times:

“Success is coming soon to me,

Prosperity is flowing unto me,

So mote it be”

Extinguish all candles ending with the white candle.

Close circle and let the incense burn until the end.
